Communication timeout occurs when sending jobs from Brisque 4.x to HP printers

  • all HP printers

Platform

  • E30—Victory

  • 43P–150—Tiger2

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 4.3.3

Symptoms

If a warning message is sent from an HP printer to the Brisque when printing from Brisque 4.x, a communication timeout occurs with a message that the proofer is not ready.

Cause

The Brisque regards warning messages about the ink system as if they are failure messages, and aborts the print operation.

Solution

To solve the problem you need to install the imp_num_cop.tar.Z patch.

Prerequisites:

Loading instructions:

  1. Log off the Brisque application.
  2. Log on as root and type your password (ripro).
  3. Type cd /scitex/version/progs and press Enter.
  4. Type cp -p improof improof.org and press Enter to back up the original file.
  5. Download the imp_num_cop.tar.Z patch to /dataVolumes/example.1.0/.updates.
  6. Type cd dataVolumes/example.1.0/Updates and press Enter.
  7. Type uncompress imp_num_cop.tar.Z and press Enter.
  8. Type tar -xvf imp_num_cop.tar and press Enter. The new improof file is automatically copied to its designated location.
  9. Type exit and log on as cdesci.

It is important to install the patch on the Brisque after each software installation (cold start and full version).
Note: A permanent solution to this problem will be provided in the next Improof update.
