The following procedure explains how to download the setup script and
how to set up the MultiTech ISDN modem.
Note: There are 2 alternative methods for setting up the script,
as described below.
Download and open the setup script:
- Copy the isdnsetup.tar.Z patch to /dataVolumes/example.1.0/.updates.
- Browse to the patch location and press enter.
- Type:
uncompress isdnsetup.tar.Z and press enter.
- Type:
tar -xvf isdnsetup.tar and press enter.
The file is automatically copied to its designated location.
- Type
exit and log on as cdesci.
Method 1set up the script with AIX commands:
- Log off from Brisque.
- Log on as root and type your password (
ripro).
- Type:
cd /scitex/version/utils/modem/isdn/multitech/europe
and press enter.
- Type:
new_inst_modem <com/tty> and press enter.
The variable <com/tty> represents the COM port to
which the modem is connected. For example, if the moden is connected
to tty0 (com1), type new_inst_modem tty0 and press enter.
- Ask Response Center to dial in, to verify the modem is installed correctly.
Method 2set up the script with Kermit commands:
- Log off from Brisque.
- Log on as root and type your password (
ripro).
- Type:
cd /scitex/version/utils/modem/isdn/multitech/europe
and press enter.
- Type:
kermit and press enter.
- At the kermit prompt, type the following commands:
set carrier-watch off
set file type binary
set line /dev/tty<0,1,2,3> (use the modem tty. For example:
set line /dev/tty1)
set parity none
set stop-bits 1
set file bytesize 8
set protocol xmodem
set parity space
set flow rts
set transmit linefeed on
connect
ats4=0
at&W0
atz
Press ctrl and C
Press exit.
Notes:
- You cannot setup the MultiTech modem via Scismit (unlike the setup
of ZyXEL).
- In some cases you need to reboot the Brisque workstation after setting
up the ISDN modem.
- If you run the MultiTech script on a ZyXEL modem, or run the ZyXEL
script on a MultiTech modem, the modem may not function properly. To
correct this problem, run the correct script.
