In Brisque 4.x, Login as macuser fails although root user is working

Product

  • Brisque® 4.x
  • Brisque Serve

Platform

All Brisque 4.x platforms

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 4.3.3

Symptoms

Following the installation of a new Brisque, you cannot log in as macuser although the root user is working. You can only log in as root.

Cause

During Brisque installation, the engineer logged into UNIX® as root and the install.p menu opened (since HELIOS was not installed). The HELIOS installation then began, during which a series of prompts appeared. All prompts were answered with Yes, including the prompt: Do you want to create an extra password file? This prompt should have been answered with No.

Solution

Workaround:

  1. Backup the directories: /usr/local/es/conf/afpvolumes, ethershare.license, atalk.conf, and psfonts.
  2. Remove the directories: /usr/local/es and scitex/version/usr/local/es.
  3. Reinstall HELIOS from the CD. During installation, make sure to answer No to the password prompt.
