Marks are cut off from ICF files when printing to Dolev 800V2 from Brisque

Product

  • Brisque® 4.x
  • Brisque 5.0
  • Preps® (all versions)
  • Dolev® 800V2

Platform

Macintosh®

Operating system

Mac OS® 9.x, 10.x

Symptoms

Marks in the bottom margin of ICF files do not appear when printing to a Dolev 800V2.

To view the exposable area in reference to the layout, click the icon that is highlighted in the image below. The larger rectangle in the image shows the exposable area and the inner rectangle is the layout.

Solution

To solve this problem, a new PPD was created where the exposable area for the Dolev 800V2 was shifted down to allow a wider bottom margin.
Note: The new PPD does not include any changes to other devices.

To install the PPD:

  1. On the Macintosh workstation, locate the Applications>Preps>Printers>ppd folder.
  2. Copy the BrisqueDevicesV2.ppd and BrisqueDevicesV1.ppx files into the ppd folder.
Note: BrisqueDevicesV2.ppd and BrisqueDevicesV1.ppx are available on the Brisque 5.0 Accessories CD and on eCentral under Product Downloads>Brisque>Postscript Printer Descriptions>Preps.
  3. Start the Preps software.
  4. In Preps, from the Setup menu, select Device Setup.
  5. In the Device Setup dialog box, click Add Device.
  6. In the Add Device dialog box, from the Device Type list, select the ppd that you just installed (BrisqueDevicesV2.ppd).
  7. In the Nickname box, type a name for the PPD and click OK.
  8. In the Device Configuration dialog box, from the Page Size menu, select Dolev800.V2Wide and click OK.
  9. In the Device Setup dialog box, click OK.

The Preps PPD can be downloaded directly from TechPlanet, from the Brisque Downloads page.
