On the Brisque 5.0 client, folder contents may disappear after moving the folder

Product

Brisque® 5.0

Platform

  • 43P–150 (Tiger2)
  • F50
  • 6F1–Condor
  • 6E3
  • 6E4

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 5.2

Symptoms

When moving a folder using the Brisque client browser, the folder contents may disappear.

Cause

The following scenario was identified as the cause of this problem:

  1. A selected folder in the client browser is moved by being dragged to another destination folder.
  2. A new folder is created and all the files in the source folder are transferred. However, because of the client browser’s refresh rate, the source folder is still shown in the original source window.
  3. The customer then attempts to repeat the move operation.
  4. However, step 3 can’t be performed because the source folder is an invalid folder (it no longer exists on the AIX level because it was deleted after the first move in step 1). When the Java system tries to move a non-existing folder to the same destination, data is lost and the files are inaccessible.

Solution

It is recommended to always refresh the client destination and source windows before initiating any copy/move operation.

In order to refresh the windows, press F5 on the Windows® or Mac client workstation.
