Running Brisque 5.0 client from a home computer

Product

Brisque® 5.0

Platform

All Brisque 5.0 platforms

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 5.2

Symptoms

You want to run the Brisque 5.0 client from a home computer.

Solution

To set up a home computer (Windows® 2000/XP or Mac OS® X), to enable running a remote Brisque 5 client:

First set up a VPN in your office gateway (where the Brisque 5 server resides).

Then set up your home computer:

  1. Add your Brisque 5 IP address to your home computer hosts table.
For further information on adding a host to the OS X hosts file, refer to Adding Hosts in Mac OS X.10.x.
  2. Load the Brisque client to your home computer from the Internet browser. For example:
    • Open Internet Explorer
    • Insert your ftp address in the following format: <ftp://client:client@HOSTNAME>, where HOSTNAME is your server name. For example: <ftp://client:client@cinco>
    • For a Windows client, copy BC5NT.exe from the ftp and install
    • For a Mac OS X client, copy BC5OSX.tar from the ftp, extract and install
  3. Log on to the VPN. The home computer now operates as if it is on the LAN.
  4. Run the Brisque client.
