During migration from Brisque 4.x to 5.0, the default network interface might shift and cause AppleTalk problems

Product

Brisque® 5.0

Platform

  • 43P-150 (Tiger2)
  • 44P–170—Hammerhead
  • F50—Wildcat (2 and 4 CPUs)
  • 6F1—Condor (2, 4 and 6 CPUs)

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 5.2

Symptoms

During migration from Brisque 4.x to 5.0, the default network interface might shift. For example, before migration it was ent1 and after migration it’s ent0. This change will cause both adapters to be defined for AppleTalk®, thus resulting in AppleTalk problems.

Cause

The basic HELIOS policy is to initially define all network interfaces to run AppleTalk

Solution

To solve the problem, you need to change the HELIOS configuration. There are 3 alternative ways to perform this change:

  • Using the netconf utility, change the default network interface to the correct one
  • Using vi, at /usr/local/es/conf/atalk.conf change the default network interface.
    For example, atalk: if="et0", nif="et1"
  • To automatically solve the problem, run the attached script atalk_adapt.tar.

Note: The next Brisque V5Ready CD will contain the above script which may be run at: /scitex/version/scripts/atalk_adapt.
