Starting Brisque and Brisque Serve software from remote terminal

Product

  • Brisque® 5.x
  • Brisque 4.x
  • Brisque Serve

Platform

All Brisque platforms

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 4.3.3, 5.2

Solution

This procedure explains how to start the CDE/Java (Brisque 4.x/Brisque 5.x/Brisque Serve) software in a telnet/modem session.

  1. From a remote terminal, type:
    portmir -t /dev/console
A console is now mirrored on your remote terminal. Whatever you type will appear on the local system console.
  2. On your remote terminal, log in as cdesci. This will start the software on the local system console.
  3. Once the software is running, close your terminal window—this is essential to ensure that you do not accidentally quit the software on the local system terminal (using Ctrl+C).
  4. Open a new terminal (via telnet/modem) on the Brisque or Brisque Serve station.
  5. To stop mirroring, type portmir -o on the remote terminal. You can now monitor the software startup as explained below.

Monitoring software startup from remote:

  • On Brisque 5.x, you can monitor the software using the lsproc.sh / lsjproc.sh commands.
  • On Brisque 4.x, use the ps -ef command to verify that all the processes are running.
  • On Brisque Serve, use the proc_test command.
