Symptoms

When mounting from one Brisque workstation to another Brisque workstation over NFS, the mount fails with an error messsage.

The problem can occur when you type:
mount -n qatest /dataVolumes/qatest.3.0 /dataVolumes/qatest.3.0

The system displays:
mount: access denied for qatest:/dataVolumes/qatest.3.0
mount: giving up on: qatest:/dataVolumes/qatest.3.0
Permission denied

Solution

1. Type: stopsrc -g nfs
stopsrc -s portmap
2. For AIX 5.2, type:
   cd /var/statmon/
rm -rf sm sm.bak
   For AIX 4.3.3 and 4.2.1, type:
   cd /etc
rm -rf sm sm.bak
3. For all versions, type:
   cd /etc
rm -rf state rmtab xtab
startsrc -s portmap
startsrc -g nfs
refresh -s inetd
4. Before recreating the exports for the required volumes, you have to remove the existing ones. Depending on how many dataVolumes you have and their names, change the text marked in red (as shown in the following example):
   rmnfsexp -d /dataVolumes/brisque201.1.0 -B
rmnfsexp -d /dataVolumes/brisque201.3.0 -B
rmnfsexp -d /scitex -B
rmnfsexp -d /scitex/version/SharedItems -B
rmnfsexp -d /scitex/version/markers –B
rmnfsexp -d /scitex/version/temp –B
5. Then recreate the exports using the following commands:
   mknfsexp -d '/scitex' -t 'rw' -a '200' '-B'
mknfsexp -d '/scitex/version/SharedItems' -t 'rw' -a '200' '-B'
mknfsexp -d '/scitex/version/markers' -t 'rw' -a '200' '-B'
mknfsexp -d '/scitex/version/temp' -t 'rw' -a '200' '-B'
mknfsexp -d '/dataVolumes/brisque201.1.0' -t 'rw' -a '200' '-B'
mknfsexp -d '/dataVolumes/brisque201.3.0' -t 'rw' -a '200' '-B'
