HELIOS reports functionality problems with upgrades to Mac OS X v10.4.6

Product

Brisque® 5.x

Platform

All Brisque platforms

Operating system

Mac OS® X v10.4.6

Symptoms

HELIOS reports the following functionality problems after an upgrade to Mac OS X v10.4.6:

  • Files and folders are sometimes locked within the 10.4.6 Finder. The 10.4.6 Finder uses the FinderInfo information to detect locked files and folders. In Mac OS 8/9, you could change the content of a locked file and rename or delete the locked file or folder. In Mac OS X v10.4.6, a locked folder appears with a read-only icon, and you cannot save or change its files or subfolders.
  • Adobe® Photoshop® crashes when you save a file on an AFP network volume. The problem occurs with Apple®-based AFP servers and with HELIOS AFP servers. HELIOS can reproduce this problem with PhotoShop versions 7, CS, and CS2.

Solution

We strongly recommend that you not upgrade to Mac OS X v10.4.6 until a solution for these problems is available.

The following workaround is available only for the first problem:

Use the dt ls -l command to view FinderInfo locked information.
Use the following command to unlock a locked file or folder:
$ dt set a-l <foldername/filename>
The problem occurs with Apple-based AFP servers and with HELIOS AFP servers. However, the workaround using the dt command is available only with HELIOS products.
