Migration to Brisque 5.1 fails when system disk name is not hdisk0

Product

  • Brisque® 5.x
  • Brisque 4.x

Platform

All Brisque platforms

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 4.3.3, 5.2

Symptoms

When the Brisque system disk is not hdisk0, migration to Brisque 5.1 fails.

Cause

It is mandatory that the Brisque system disk be hdisk0. Otherwise the V51Ready program will fail, which will cause the automatic software installation to fail.

Solution

To force the system disk to be hdisk0:
Note: To perform the following procedure, hdisk0 must be empty of data or does not exist.

  1. At the AIX terminal, run the command: rmdev -dl hdisk0
  2. Open the Brisque station and physically remove the hdisk0 (9GB) from the system.
  3. Download mvhdisk.tar.Z.
  4. Uncompress and untar the mvhdisk.sh script into $SCI_SCRIPTS
  5. Run the following script to rename hdisk4 to hdisk0:
    mvhdisk.sh hdisk4
At the prompt, type hdisk0 (hdisk0 is now the destination disk).
  6. Run the v51Ready program and proceed with the Brisque 5.1 software installation.
