Problems activating hot folders when files are transferred to Brisque via FTP

Product

  • Kodak® Brisque® 5.x software
  • Brisque 4.x software

Platform

All Brisque platforms

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 4.3.3, 5.2

Symptoms

When you transfer files to Brisque via FTP, there is a problem activating Brisque hot folders.

Cause

The default file access rights for FTP users is 640, which is insufficient for activating Brisque hot folders.

Solution

To change the default settings:

  1. Make sure that a user defined on the Brisque is part of the Macusers group. For example, FTPUSER.
  2. Back up the /etc/inetd.conf file. Type:
    #cd /etc
    #cp inetd.conf inetd.conf_bak
  3. To edit the /etc/inetd.conf file, change the following line:
ftp stream tcp nowait root /etc/ftpd ftpd
    To:
ftp stream tcp nowait root /etc/ftpd ftpd -u0
Note: Just add -u0 (zero) at the end of the line.
  4. Reboot the Server.
