When you use a recipe color with a density value higher than 22, this value is reset to zero in the Approval XP controller after the Approval XP4 RIP process

Product

  • Kodak® Brisque® 5.1 software or later
  • Kodak Approval NX (XP4) Digital Color Proofing System

Platform

All Brisque platforms

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 5.2

Symptoms

When you use a recipe color with a density value higher than 22, this value is reset to zero in the Kodak Approval XP controller after the Kodak Approval XP4 RIP process.

Solution

Use the following workaround for multiple jobs:

In Brisque, perform the following actions:

  1. From the Tools menu, select Resource Center.
  2. In the Resource Center, create a new Kodak recipe library.
  3. In the new Kodak recipe library, create a recipe color (CMYK) with the required denisity value (for example 30).
  4. Drag the Brisque Job to the KodakXP4 operation and on the Separations tab, select the library and recipe color you created in steps 1 and 2.
  5. On the Separations tab, select the Advanced check box and verify that the name of the library you created is dislpayed in the Library column for each of the donors (CMYK).

Note: Make sure that the Use Same Donors for CMYK and Spots and Simple Recipe Mode check boxes are selected.

To check if the density values remain as defined, in the Kodak Approval XP Host software, perform the following actions:

  1. Make sure that the DCI (Digital Color Imager) is in Off-Line status.
  2. In Brisque, submit the Job.
  3. After the Kodak Approval XP RIP process is complete, from the Tools menu, select Queue Manager.
  4. In the Queue Manager, select the job and from the Job menu select Information.
  5. In the Job Information dialog box, click Details and verify that the Density Request value is correct (for example 30) for each donor (Pass).
  6. Change the DCI (Digital Color Imager) status to On-Line.
  7. Proof the job.

Use a shorter workaround for a single job:

  1. In the Kodak Approval XP Host software, make sure that the DCI (Digital Color Imager) is in Off-Line status.
  2. In Brisque, submit the Job.
  3. In the Kodak Approval XP Host software, after the Kodak Approval XP RIP process is complete, from the Tools menu, select Queue Manager.
  4. In the Queue Manager, select the job and from the Job menu select Information.
  5. In the Job Information dialog box, click Details and change the Density Request value to the required value (for example 30) for each donor (Pass).
  6. Change the DCI (Digital Color Imager) status to On-Line.
  7. Proof the job.
