Symptoms

A hot folder cannot be created on an imported rdev1.10.0 file system.

Cause

The imported rdev1.10.0 file system does not include the local hostname rdev3.

Solution

Preparations before removing a file system:

In Timna or Brisque Serve, if the volume is reporting, remove it from Archiver Administration.

  1. Shut down the Creo application.

  2. In the Mount Pro application, dismount the Brisque volume to update. For example, dismount the volume redev1.10.0.
Note: Check that the name of the new file system to be defined does not exist.

Remove the file system from the NFS export list:

  1. Open an AIX terminal window.

  2. At the command line prompt, type smit nfs, and press Enter. The NFS menu appears.

  3. Select the Network File System (NFS) menu option, and press Enter.

  4. Select the Remove a Directory from Exports list menu option, and press Enter.

  5. In the PATHNAME of directory to be removed text entry field, type the path of the directory to remove from the exports list, and press Enter.

  6. Press the ESCAPE and 0 (zero) keys simultaneously. The SMIT application exits, and the AIX command line prompt becomes active.

Dismount the file system to change:

  1. At the AIX command line prompt, type smit. The System Management menu appears.

  2. Select the System Storage Management (Physical & Logical Storage) menu option.

  3. Select the File Systems menu option.

  4. Select the Add / Change / Show / Delete File Systems menu option.

  5. Select the Journaled File System menu option.

  6. Select the Change / Show Characteristics of a Journaled File System menu option. The File System Name menu appears.

  7. Select the file system to change, and press Enter.

  8. In the NEW mount point text box, type the name of the new mount point, and press Enter.

  9. Press the ESCAPE and 0 (zero) keys simultaneously. The SMIT application exits, and the AIX command line prompt becomes active.
Note: If you are unable to dismount the volume, stop the atalk process.

Mount the file system:

At the command line prompt, type mount all.

Add the file system to the NFS export list:

  1. At the command line prompt, type smit nfs, and press Enter. The NFS menu appears.

  2. Select the Network File System (NFS) menu option, and press Enter.

  3. Select the Add a Directory from Exports list menu option, and press Enter.

  4. In the PATHNAME of directory to export text entry field, type the path of the directory to export, and press Enter.

  5. Press the ESCAPE and 0 (zero) keys simultaneously. The SMIT application exits, and the AIX command line prompt becomes active.

Exiting from SMIT:

  1. Open Ethershare Admin.
  2. Replace the name of the existing file system with the new file system name.
  3. Save the configurations.
  4. Start the Brisque or Brisque Serve application.
  5. For Timna or Brisque Serve, add the volumes to the reporting volumes, and update the database.
  6. Re-start Ethershare (Atalk).
