6F1 workstation does not boot

Product

  • Brisque® 4.1
  • Brisque 5
  • Brisque Serve 4.0

Platform

6F1–Condor (2, 4 and 6 CPUs)

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 4.3.3 or IBM AIX 5

Error

  ! 101100AC

Symptoms

When you turn on a 6F1 workstation, the system does not boot after the OK message appears. After you push the On button, an orange exclamation mark and the 101100AC code appear on the front panel.
The IBM Service Manual says “AC power loss or brownout detected”, that the error message is informational only, and that no FRUs are recommended.

Cause

The 120 In power was OK, but it measured at 1.5 VAC GND to Neutral, instead of the expected 0.3 VAC GND to Neutral. When the 6F1 workstation was plugged into a 0.3 VAC GND to Neutral power socket, the workstation turned on smoothly.

Solution

Measure the incoming power and GND to Neutral voltage and verify that it is correct.
