  • Brisque Serve 4.0.21

Platform

  • F50—Wildcat (2 and 4 CPUs)
  • 44P–170—Hammerhead
  • 6F1—Condor (2, 4, and 6 CPUs)

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 4.3.3

Symptoms

While unmirroring from a remote disk, a communication failure occurrs.

Cause

The unmirrordisk.sh script, used to remove remaining information on the disk that was not removed during the unmirror, failed.

Solution

To solve the problem you need to manually unmirror the hdisk (for example, hdisk[y]):
  1. To break the mirror between hdisk[y] and hdisk[x], type the following at the command line:
    unmirrorvg rootvg hdisk[y].
  2. To set hd5 as the only boot log volume, type:
    mkboot -c -d/dev/hdisk[x].
  3. Run the bosboot command:
    bosboot -a -d/dev/hdisk[x].
  4. Clear the bootlist:
    bootlist -m normal hdisk[x]
    .
  5. Remove the mirror disk:
    reducevg rootvg hdisk[y].
  6. Change QUORUM to:
    chvg -Q 'y' rootvg.
  7. Remove the disk:
    rmdev -dl hdisk[y].
  8. Run cfgmgr.
  9. Mirror rootvg by running the mirror.sh script.
