Symptoms

Tape is listed as offline in database.

Solution

From dbaccess, change the tape status in the database from Offline to Unmounted. In order to activate the SQL commands listed below you need to start the dbaccess:

  1. To select the DB that you want to work with and open a new command editor: type
    dbaccess > Query-language > directmgr@ids_server > NEW
  2. Type:
slot_id, tag_id from the reachables table where tag_id matches "*.archive.*"
  3. Select ESC > run
    The following is displayed:
    slot_id tag_id
    1 ripro05.archive.150
    2 ripro05.archive.149
    3 ripro05.archive.148
    4 ripro05.archive.147
    5 ripro05.archive.146
    6 ripro05.archive.129
    7 ripro05.archive.135
    8 ripro05.archive.090
    9 ripro05.archive.123
    10 ripro05.archive.122
    11 ripro05.archive.140
    12 ripro05.archive.139
    13 ripro05.archive.138
    14 ripro05.archive.137
  4. This shows the status of the current volumes in the reachables tables in the DB. To check the Legato JBX status, type:
    nsrjb -j jbx2|grep -i archive
    The following is displayed:
    1: ripro05.archive.150 ScitexArchive A0150 2696084225 no
    2: ripro05.archive.149 ScitexArchive A0149 2539565825 no
    3: ripro05.archive.148 ScitexArchive A0148 2539146497 no
    4: ripro05.archive.147 ScitexArchive A0147 2388558849 no
    5: ripro05.archive.146 ScitexArchive A0146 2075481089 no
    6: ripro05.archive.136 ScitexArchive A0136 63200257 no
    7: ripro05.archive.135 ScitexArchive A0135 4025992449 no
    8: ripro05.archive.09 ScitexArchive A0090 2554546433 no
    9: ripro05.archive.123 ScitexArchive A0123 934362369 no
    10: ripro05.archive.122 ScitexArchive A0122 934270977 no
    11: ripro05.archive.140 ScitexArchive A0140 997164033 no
    12: ripro05.archive.139 ScitexArchive A0139 703961857 no
    13: ripro05.archive.138 ScitexArchive A0138 394578945 no
    14: ripro05.archive.137 ScitexArchive A0137 394285057 no
  5. All slots seem to match except slot 6. To fix the problem, run the following from dbaccess:
    update reachables set tag_id = "ripro05.archive.136" where slot_id=6
  6. To check the result, run the following:
select slot_id, tag_id from reachables where tag_id matches "*.archive.*"
    The following is displayed:
    slot_id tag_id
    1 ripro05.archive.150
    2 ripro05.archive.149
    3 ripro05.archive.148
    4 ripro05.archive.147
    5 ripro05.archive.146
    6 ripro05.archive.136
    7 ripro05.archive.135
    8 ripro05.archive.090
    9 ripro05.archive.115
    10 ripro05.archive.103
    11 ripro05.archive.140
    12 ripro05.archive.139
    13 ripro05.archive.138
    14 ripro05.archive.137

Slot ID 6 is now OK and the problem is solved.
