Timna database reporting is slow

Product

  • Brisque® Serve 4
  • Timna

Platform

  • 44P–170—Hammerhead
  • 6F1—Condor
  • F50

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 4.2.1, 4.3.3

Symptoms

Timna database reporting is slow.

Solution

Check if there is a problem with the index structure:

  1. Check the schema of the files and location tables. In AIX, type: dbschema –d directmgr –t files
  2. Check the index definitions. For example, the files table should have 9 indexes and the location table should have 5 indexes.
  3. If in doubt, compare to the database of another Timna. On both databases, run the command:
    dbschema –d directmgr –t all sch.sql.
  4. A sch.sql file is created on each database. Run the following command on both Timna stations:
    grep “index size” sch.sql
  5. Compare the number that is obtained at the top of each CREATE TABLE statement. This is the size in bytes of each index. If the number is not the same, check if there are missing indexes in the suspected table.
  6. Check if all the constraints are defined in the dbschema of the suspected table.
  7. Create a sch.sql file for a Timna database that is functioning properly.
