Symptoms

Cannot save a large Informix database (over 10 GB) on a single tape.

Solution

Change the Informix tape size:

1. Start onmonitor from the AIX command line.
2. In the menu, scroll until Archive is selected. Press enter.
3. Press enter to select Tape-Parameters.
4. The Modifying Tape Parameters menu appears. Press enter on the Tape Device row until you reach the first Tape Size field.
5. Change the Tape Size value. For example, if 10000000 KB is listed, change the value to a larger value that will accomodate the size of the Informix database that you want to save.
6. To save, press Esc and then press E to exit.
7. Reboot the system to implement the change.
