Kodak® InSite Variable Data Print 3.0 |

Platform |

Operating system |
Microsoft® Windows® |

Symptoms |
The DCOM applications that are required when installing the Web Composition Server (WCS) on a Variable Data Print server are not present. The following DCOM applications must be installed:
To verify that these applications are installed, from the Start menu, select Run. Type dcomcnfg and click OK. In the Distributed COM Configuration Properties dialog box, on the Applications tab, verify that the two applications are listed. If these applications are not installed, it is not possible to successfully install WCS. | ||
Cause |
The cause typically seems to be the Adobe® Flash® player. When the Flash player is installed for the first time, the required DCOM objects disappear. |
||
Solution |
Run the uninstaller for the Flash player. The required DCOM objects will reappear. Strangely enough, if the Flash player is reinstalled a second time, it seems to have no effect on the DCOM objects. It seems to be only the first installation of the Flash player that causes the problem. |
