VDP template personalization and uploading a .drwn file fails

Product

  • Kodak® InSite™ Variable Data Print 3.0.5
  • WCS 2.0.007 and 2.0.008

Platform

PC

Operating system

Microsoft® Windows® 2003

Symptoms

  • VDP templates that were working now fail to personalize.
  • Uploading a .drwn file for a new template fails to create a form.
  • Running the Darwin diagnostics file through WCS diagnostics hangs at import.
  • If you check the WCS_User account properties, the account is set to User must change password at next logon.

Cause

The password for the WCS_User account, which is used to launch Adobe® InDesign® Server, has expired. When creating WCS_User, the WCS installer failed to set the user to never expire.

Solution

  1. On the Variable Data Print server, in Computer Management, expand Local Users and Groups and click Users.
  2. In the right pane, right-click WCS_User and select Properties.
  3. Clear User must change password at next logon and select Password never expires. Click OK.
This is resolved in WCS 2.0.011, which is installed with Variable Data Print 3.1.1.
