Updating to Mac OS 9.1 Causes Pandora to Create New Folders Automatically

Product

Pandora® 1.0

Operating system

Mac® OS 9

Symptoms

If you change the location of the Pandora folder, a new application folder is created for storing temporary files.

Cause

When you upgrade the Mac OS® to version 9.1, the Applicationsfolder is automatically renamed during the upgrade process. The path to Pandora changes on the upgraded system to: “Macintosh HD/Applications (Mac OS 9)/Pandora 1.0."

This changes the path to Pandora and creates a problem when you print from Pandora. On the upgraded system, every time you print, Pandora recreates the following folder path and uses it to store temporary files:
Macintosh HD/Applications/Pandora 1.0/temp. These folders are empty, but even if you throw them away, Pandora recreates them every time it prints.

Solution

Pandora stores a hard-coded path to the temporary directory in the scenicsoft.properties file in the Pandora directory. You can open this file with a text editor such as BBEdit™ or TextPad® and change the path name from the old path:
Macintosh HD/Applications/Pandora 1.0/temp
to the new path:
Macintosh HD/Applications (Mac OS 9)/Pandora 1.0/temp

Empty directories no longer appear when you print.

This problem also occurs if you move the Pandora folder to a different directory from where it was initially installed. The same solution outlined above works to solve the problem (just edit the path in the scenicsoft.properties file).
