Pandora Does Not Preview Transparency in the JIV; Transparency is Disregarded When Printing ...

Product

Pandora® All

Operating system

Macintosh® & Windows®

Symptoms

Complete Title: Pandora Does Not Preview Transparency in the JIV; Transparency is Disregarded When Printing to PostScript

PDF 1.4 files that contain transparent objects do not preview correctly in the JIV.

Transparency is correctly preserved if the output format is PDF. When printing to a PostScript® file or to an output device, Pandora disregards the transparency effects applied to any objects. The transparent objects are 100% opaque in the output.

Cause

The PostScript language does not recognize transparency, and in order to preview files in the JIV, they must be converted to PostScript.

Solution

There are two workarounds for this problem:

Solution 1:

Print a PDF from Pandora to preserve the transparency.

Solution 2:
1. Open the file in Illustrator 9 or 10.

2. Select the elements that have transparency applied.

3. From the Object menu, select Flatten Transparency.

3. From the list at the top of the dialog box, select Transparency.

4. Under Printing & Export, move the Quality/Speed slider all the way to the right.

5. Click OK.

6. Export the PDF, then place it into Pandora.
