Spot Color Objects Print as Process Builds When Using a PostScript Level 2 PPD

Product

Pandora® All

Operating system

Macintosh® & Windows®

Symptoms

If the artwork used in a Pandora job contains PostScript® 3™ objects colored with a spot color (for example, duotones or spot gradients) and the job is printed to an output device using a PostScript Level 2 PPD, Pandora reinterprets any PostScript 3 objects to be compatible with PostScript Level 2. If the object is colored with a spot color, then the color is reinterpreted as a process build.

Cause

PostScript Level 2 does not recognize PostScript 3 code.

Solution

There are two workarounds for this problem:

1. Print to PDF instead of to a PostScript Level 2 output device.

2. Print using a PostScript 3 PPD.
