Symptoms |
Complete Title: TIFF or EPS Files Placed in an Adobe Illustrator Document Appear to Shift Position or be Clipped when a PDF is Saved from Illustrator and then Viewed in Acrobat In Adobe® Illustrator® 8.0 and later, placed TIFF and EPS files may appear to shift or be clipped when a PDF is created and viewed in Acrobat®. |
||
Cause |
When saving a document as a PDF file, Illustrator 8.0 and later uses the document's artboard size and printable page area to create the PDF file's page size. If the artboard is larger than the paper size specified in the Page Setup dialog box, the printable page area represents the area of the page that will appear in the PDF file. All artwork you want to appear in the PDF file must be within this area. You can use the Page tool to adjust the position of the printable page area. For more information on printable area and the Page tool, see pages 47-52 of the Adobe Illustrator 8.0 User Guide, or pages 70-72 of the Adobe Illustrator 9.0 User Guide. |

Solution |
There are two solutions to this problem. You can modify the Illustrator document to ensure the artwork fits within the printable page area, or you can save the Illustrator document as an EPS and use Distiller® to create the PDF. |
