Pandora Crashes When You Click the Menu Bar

Product

Pandora® All

Operating system

Macintosh® OS 9.1

Symptoms

This problem is specific to OS 9.1 and occurs when the STFInit system extension is installed and when the position of the FaxMenu is set to either Apple® Menu or Do Not Use in the FAXstf preferences. This problem does not occur when FaxMenu appears in the Application Menubar.

Cause

The FAXstf software, included with some Macintosh® bundles, is sometimes incompatible with MRJ. For current information on this problem, see Apple's online documentation at http://www.apple.com/support/.

Solution

There are two workarounds for this problem.

Workaround 1: Set FaxMenu to appear in the Application Menubar

1. Start Fax Browser.

2. From the Edit menu, select Preferences.

3. Click Fax Assistant.

4. In the Position box, select Application Menubar.

5. Click Save.

The changes take effect after you restart the computer.

Workaround 2: Disable the FAXstf software

1. From the Apple menu, select Control Panels > Extensions Manager.

2. Clear the check boxes for each of the following extensions: FaxMonitor, FaxPrint, STF Phonebook Lib, STF Toolbox, and STFInit.

3. Restart the computer.

While the FAXstf software is disabled, you be unable to send or receive faxes. To use FAXstf, enable the extensions listed above and restart the computer.
