Symptoms

Preps 4.2 and UpFront 2.0 support a new version of the iKey^® driver on Windows 2000 and Windows XP^®, but Pandora does not yet support this driver. Pandora also does not support Windows XP.

If you want to run Pandora on the same machine as Preps 4.2 and/or UpFront 2.0, you must not install the new iKey driver when you install Preps 4.2 or UpFront 2.0.

Cause

Rainbow Technologies^® made changes to the iKey driver for Windows 2000 and Windows XP, but Pandora does not yet support the new driver.

Solution

Installing Preps 4.2 and Pandora:
When you install Preps 4.2 on Windows XP, the new iKey driver is automatically installed, but since Pandora does not support Windows XP, this is irrelevant.

When you install Preps 4.2 on Windows 2000, the older, Pandora-compatible iKey driver is automatically installed. The new iKey driver is provided on the Preps 4.2 CD and can be installed manually, but this is not recommended.

Installing UpFront 2.0 and Pandora:
When you install UpFront 2.0 on Windows XP or Windows 2000, you have the option to install either the new iKey driver or no iKey driver. If you are planning to run UpFront 2.0 on the same machine as Pandora, do not install the iKey driver when you install UpFront. Instead, use the iKey driver that installs with Pandora.

Uninstalling the new iKey driver:
If you installed the new iKey driver with UpFront, using the Add/Remove Programs control panel to remove the new driver, then installing the old iKey driver separately may cause problems when you run Preps or UpFront (see troubleshooting item 80681).

To fix this problem, reinstall UpFront 2.0, but do not select the option to install the iKey driver.
