Pandora 2.8 upgrade fails when Pandora 2.7 is running

Product

  • Pandora® 2.8
  • Pandora 2.7

Error

Pandora 2.7 is not installed in selected folder.

Symptoms

When Pandora 2.7 software is running while a user is trying to upgrade to Pandora 2.8, the installer deletes certain files before encountering the running instance of Pandora 2.7. If you abort the installation at that point and try to re-install later, the installer fails because it cannot find the deleted files.

Cause

The Pandora 2.8 Upgrader cannot delete a file when 2.7 is running.

Solution

Use one of the following three workarounds:

Uninstall Pandora 2.7 and then install Pandora 2.8:

  1. Back up your Shopmap, Marks, and Job Templates folders.
  2. Uninstall Pandora 2.7.
  3. Install Pandora 2.8 using the installer, not the upgrader.

Close Pandora 2.7 and then upgrade to Pandora 2.8:

  1. Find the running instance of Pandora 2.7.
  2. Close Pandora 2.7.
  3. Go back to the installer box that that contains the Abort and Retry buttons.
  4. Click Retry.

Manually replace the missing file:

  1. After a failed upgrade, the following file are missing: Plugins\JobStorage.jar Resources\SSiWinUtil.dll RIP\postscript.vm
  2. Manually replace the file with the blank text file using the same file name.
  3. Place the blank text file in the same location as the missing file.
  4. Restart the upgrader.
