Pandora uses thumbnails from the artwork PDF rather than Prinergy thumbnails

Product

  Kodak Pandora® 2.9.5 and earlier

Symptoms

Artwork appears different than expected, especially if color-converting or overprints were applied to the artwork.

Cause

This problem is caused by a default preference in Pandora. When you import an artwork PDF file that contains a thumbnail added by software other than the Kodak Prinergy® software, this default preference ensures that Pandora uses that thumbnail, rather than the separate JPG thumbnail created by Prinergy.

Solution

This preference was added for customers who use Pandora with third-party RIPs. However, at times, it can cause problems for customers that use a Prinergy workflow.

To prefer Prinergy thumbnails over embedded thumbnails:

  1. Browse to the folder where you installed Pandora (C:\Program files\Kodak\Pandora by default)
  2. In a text editor, open defaultuser.properties.
  3. Add the following line at the beginning of the file: AgfaThumbnails=false

Pandora will ignore embedded thumbnails in the artwork and use the Prinergy thumbnail.
