Some spot color separations do not appear on output

Product

  Kodak Pandora® 2.9.5 and earlier

Symptoms

When outputting to proof or plates, some spot color separations appear blank rather than containing the proper output.

Cause

The spot color name contains the "#" symbol, for example Spotcolor#2 or Pantone#1123.

Solution

Rename the spot color to remove the # symbol.

You can do this in the Kodak Prinergy® software by selecting the artwork and doing a 2ndRefine-MapColors refine. Before submitting the process, click Color Mapping and add a new spot color alias without the #, and map the incorrectly named color to the new spot color name. For example, map Spotcolor#2 to Spotcolor2.
