Preventing Crop Marks From Moving with Shingling in a Brisque Workflow [ID: 80748]

Product

Preps® 4.2.3 and later

Operating system

Macintosh®

Symptoms

The crop marks in Preps 4.2 and later move with the page information when shingling is applied (see troubleshooting item 80666). This movement is not desirable for all production methods.

Cause

In Preps 4.2.2, we fixed a problem in the Brisque® workflow so that the crop marks would move with the page information, which is desirable for many production methods.

Solution

To accommodate multiple production methods, a new setting is added to the Preps 4.2.3 default.cfg file that allows Brisque users to choose whether or not crop marks move with the page information. The default setting is for the crop marks to move as they do in Preps 4.2.2.

To disable shingling of crop marks in the Brisque edition of Preps:

1. With Preps not running, use a text editor such as BBEdit® to open the default.cfg file. This file is in the Preps:profiles:(profile name) folder.

2. Locate the line that says:
-SHINGLEBRISQUECROPMARKS:TRUE

3. Change it to:
-SHINGLEBRISQUECROPMARKS:FALSE

4. Save the file.

The crop marks no longer move with the page information when shingling is applied.
