Integris 400/800 via Integris Proofing Controller

Proofer Type | Process Plans | Connectivity | Performance | Usage | Limitations | Resources

Proofer Type

The Integris 400 and 800 use six or seven colors to render: cyan, magenta, yellow, black, light cyan, light magenta, light black.

Process Plans

Use the process plan for the Integris Proofing Controller: Integris360AA.zip, and modify the margins if needed. Basically, Prinergy sends Contone (256 shade) TIFF to a hot folder monitored by the Integris Proofing Controller.

Connectivity

The Integris 400/800 proofer is driven by an Integris workstation running the Integris Proofing Controller software. The proofer itself is hooked up through the workstation's USB port. Please see the installation documents here: http://techplanet.creo.com/proofing/integris/nav/install.htm.

Performance

Using Creotivity5 as the test files on a Dell PE6400 server, the time (in seconds) to make a proof is as shown below:

Resolution 4Up 4Up AA 8Up 8Up AA
360 x 360 28 65 49 168
720 x 720 70 217 136 622

Note: the recommended configuration for general use is 360dpi, with anti-aliasing set to level 4. This results in the smallest files, yet with decent processing speeds. If file size is not an issue, you can also use 720 dpi with AA turned off. Under no circumstances should you use 720 dpi with AA turned on, as this really bogs down the server and image quality is not noticeably better. Also, the recommended rip resolution on the Integris Proofing Controller should be 720 dpi, regardless of the Process Plan dpi.

Conclusions:

Usage

As these proofing devices are identical to the Epson 7600 and 9600, there are many of them in use. Exact numbers are not known.

Limitations

As expected, text may look jaggy at only 360 dpi, however, the colors should look fine.
