Note: To output to this printer at an acceptable speed from Windows 2000 or Windows 2003, you must configure an LPR print port (print services for UNIX).

Proofer Type

• Class 2 proofers
• The 1050C and 1055CM are essentially the same printer, with the 1055CM having a built-in Adobe Postscript RIP. However, this RIP is not used when driving the 1055CM from Prinergy; instead we drive it directly using HP-RTL.
• Outputs at: 600 x 600 dpi, or 300 x 300 dpi in color, which is what we care about; there is built-in capability for 1200 x 600 dpi, but only in black-only, which is not useful to most customers.

Process Plans

• Use Prinergy process plans for the HP 1050C/1055CM
  or set up your own process plan with the following settings:
  • Size: roll fed
  • Width: 36 inches
  • Min height: 1 inch
  • Max height: 100 inches
  • Resolution: 300 dpi or 600 dpi, depending on quality/speed desired
  • Color model: Device CMYK
  • Shades: 1
  • Output to: HP-RTL (low-resolution)
  • Output type: Absolute file or printer
  • Device path: UNC path

Connectivity

This proofer connects to the network via an HP JetDirect card in the printer or directly to the print server via a Parallel Port connection. A process plan in Prinergy spools HP-RTL to an NT print device, which is created on the print server.
