Symptoms |
When a medium is asked to use a tape for the first time, the following error message appears in DiagView: "Block size of 16384 bytes detected and assigned to missing attribute of logical medium. Medium ID = 71bbe2a5-fb9e-11d3-9d17-0090278d46c0 Medium name = 000098 NTMS logical medium ID = bc80ab02-0973-11d4-91a4-00b0d0201f67 PArchRetJTP.Medium Archive Thread: 250 archdlt.cpp(651): precondition failed: (blockSize != 0) at line 651 in file archdlt.cpp" The Archiver task fails with the error: "Message from Extreme: JTP used by an active process has disconnected from the coordinator. Archive:Archive/Retreive". The Parch JTP crashed and restarted. |

Cause |
An attribute does not exist within the emulated RSM database. Most likely someone deleted the HKLM\Creo\Araxi\RSM hive in the registry. When the RSM in the registry is deleted, the block size number for the medium disappears. When the medium is used, Archiver will complain about the block size number. Archiver will write a block size to the medium from that point. The error will show up whenever the tape is used for the first time. |

Solution |
Add the AraxiBlockSize value and set it to 16Kb in the registry for each tape. In registry, select \\hkey_local_machine\software\creo\araxi\rsm\logicalMedia. Under each media, on the right side, there should be a value AraxiBlockSize. It is in hex, so the value is 3136333834. If there is no AraxiBlockSize, add the value in the registry. Add a value as "AraxiBlockSize", data type "REG_BINARY", and type in the value 3136333834. Remember to do this for each tape. Permanent fix: Prinergy 2.0 |
