Symptoms

When you try to initialize a tape, you get Error 1112. The error message indicates that Archiver could not initialize any tape and ERSM does not know about any tape in the drive, even though there is a tape in the drive.

Cause

Solution

Select Archiver Media Manager, expand physical locations, right click on Library0, and select inventory.

If it still does not update the inventory properly, use the following additional steps:

For the Faststor tape library, you need to stop and restart ERSM.

For the ATL tape library, open the door of the library, close it and let it initialize. After it finishs initializating, go to Archiver Media Manager, expand physical locations, right click on Library0, and select inventory.
