While purging a job in Prinergy Archiver, the purge fails. There may be a warning message that the file is not online.

Cause

B. One or more files on disk might have a time and date newer than the time and date of the actual archive. This could occur if the file was modified after it was archived, for example. If this is the case, the Purge function considers the file to be new and won't purge it.

C. A file you are trying to purge might be currently accessed by other processes or applications.

D. In Prinergy 2.0, the Purge process plan might be set to check the media pool before purging. If the job was archived and the tape was moved from one pool to another, the Purge function cannot locate the tape in the media pool. The purge fails with an error saying that it cannot find the archive on ANY of the application pools.

Solution

A. Set the process plan to "continue on File Warning/Abort on first file error". Then even if files are offline, the Purge function will work correctly.

B. Re-archive any files modified after the first archive before purging the job.

C. Close the file and ensure that no other process or applications, including Windows Explorer, are using the file. Purge the file again.

D. If you set the Purge process plan to check the media pool for the archive before purging, do not move the tape to another pool before purging.
