Symptoms

Archiver failed with an error message indicating a CRC error on the tape.

Cause

Solution

Update freespace to 23 for the problem tape.

1. Go to a DOS prompt.

2. Type "plus80 araxi_1_0_12/araxi" and enter for Prinergy 1.1 system

or Type "sqlplus prinergy/araxi" and enter for Prinergy 2.0 system.

3. Type "select * from dbcs_archivemedium;" to look for the archivemedmname for the problem tape.

4. Type "update dbcs_archivemedium set archivemedmfreegb = 23, archivemedmfreegbremainder=0 where archivemedmname = 'name of the problem tape';" and enter.

5. Type "commit;" and enter.

6. Type "select * from dbcs_archivemedium;" and enter. Run this again to verify that the freespace for the tape has beenchanged to 0.

OR disable the tape using Archiver Media Manager for Prinergy 1.1.

OR move the tape to another media pools just for retrieve for Prinergy 2.0.

Permanent fix : in the next release of Prinergy, when this problem encounters, the ParchRet.jtp will set the freespace to 23 to indicate that there is a tape with bad block.

Permanent fix: Prinergy 2.0
