Symptoms |
***Applies to Prinergy Connect, Powerpack, Direct, Satellite, depending on installed configuration.*** Preventing a tape from being written to. |
Cause |
There is no option in ERSM/RSM or Archiver that allows the tape to be set to read-only status. | |
Solution |
To set a tape as read-only, do one of the following: A. Disable the tape in Archiver Media Manager/RSM. However, to retrieve any job on this tape, the tape must be re-enabled for the retrieve to take effect. For Prinergy 2.0 only: B. Create a new media pool for the tape that requires read-only status, move the tape from its existing archive pool to the newly-created one. In this way, the archiver process plan does not contain the newly-created pool and won't ask for the tape to archive. Also, you may want to purge the job before moving the tape to avoid a purging failure or create another purge process plan to make it consistent with the newly-created media pool. NOTE : Option B is a better way to prevent a tape being written to, as the tape is still enabled and in a separate pool for easy maintenance. Permanent fix: |
