Symptoms

Cause

Prinergy 1.1 use ARCH PVR to track configuration of the tape library or drive working with Archiver.

Solution

ARCH Physical Volume Repository (PVR) is a database that tracks the configuration of the jukebox, the state of all elements of the jukebox (drives, storage slots, mailslots, manipulator), and the attributes of any medium registered with the library. This database is maintained in the registry in NT under the following key: \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|Software|Creo]ARCH_PVR_O. This is referred to as “Logical Library. It consists of two segments: a collection of media and a set of physical libraries.

Under Arch PVR 0 key, it contains Media Attributes, Media ID and Physical Library A.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creo\Arch PVR 0\Media Attributes stores the information about the collection of media. The key is created when the logical library is installed.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creo\Arch PVR 0\Media ID stores the information about the collection of media. The key is created when the logical library is installed.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creo\Arch PVR 0\Physical Library A stores information within the logical library. The subkey structure of the physical library key is generated when the physical library is added. The information within each subkey, with the exception of the drive information (i.e. information under the Drive Attributes, Drive IDS subkeys), is filled in when physical library is added. The drive information is added separately using the Libdiag -adddev function when running the config wizard.

Under Physical Library A, there are 6 sub keys, Changer Attributes, Device Attributes, Device IDs, IOPort Attributes, Storage Slot Attributes and Transport Attributes.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creo\Arch PVR 0\Physical Library A\Changer Attributes stores the SCSI address of the various Archiver devices and they have to match the information for the associated devices in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DeviceMap\SCSI\. This is only for a tape library, not for a single DLT drive.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creo\Arch PVR 0\Physical Library A\Device Attributes stores the deviceType, SCSI attributes, and state information. The values are added using Liddiag -adddev when running config wizard.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creo\Arch PVR 0\Physical Library A\Device IDs stores the NT Device name for each DLT drive, for example, Tape0 for a single drive, Tape0, Tape1 for a device with 2 drives.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creo\Arch PVR 0\Physical Library A\IOPort Attributes stores the state of each I/O port, only for a device that has an I/O port, not for a single DLT drive.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creo\Arch PVR 0\Physical Library A\Storage Slot Attributes stores the medium location attributes inside the library (only for a tape library, not for a single DLT drive).

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creo\Arch PVR 0\Physical Library A\Transport Attributes stores the state information for the picker (only for a tape library, not for a single DLT drive).
