Error |
You can't drag a tape from one pool to another once the tape has been allocated, but you can drag an available tape. |
Symptoms |
When you try to move an allocated tape from one pool to another, a Media Manager pop-up message appears: "Error: application failed to perform the requested operation on object "mediapoolname". |
Cause |
This is a known limitation on Archiver Media Manager. | |
Solution |
If for some reason you want to move the tape away from the existing pool to not using it, you can create a new Media Pool to archive or disable the tape, but need to re-enable it when retrieving a job. This problem is fixed in Prinergy 2.0 using Microsoft Removable Storage Management. Permanent fix: Prinergy 2.0 |
