Error |
Error appearing on the LCD panel: "SK ASC ASCQ 4 83 50 EXTENS: Sensor block / or failed" |
Symptoms |
The P1000 tape library fails to initialize and displays an error on the LCD panel. |
Cause |
1. The sensor on the gripper is not working properly. 2. The sensor is blocked by something. 3. The sensor is not parked at the proper position. In many cases, when RSM or another application tries to mount a tape in the drive when the library is out of sync with the inventory (i.e. a tape is already in the drive) the tape will stay on the gripper. When the gripper moves, it may drop the tape on the bottom of the library. If this happens, the sensor (like a finger that sticks out on the gripper) will not park to the proper position. |

Solution |
1) Power down the library. 2) Open the door. 3) Take out the casettes. 4) Check to see whether there is any tape blocking the sensor. 5) Clear any tape on the bottom of the library. 6) Align any tape standing out from the casettes. 7) Check the sensor position. For Cause #3, if the sensor is sticking upwards, you need to open the case of the library, unscrew the cover of the gripper and park the sensor to the orginal position. This problem happens a few times for this library. If you need help with a specific step, call ATL tech support. Permanent fix: |
