Archiver 2.0.7 incorrectly calculated freespace for tape

Product

  Prinergy Connect 2.0

Platform

Operating system

Error

Symptoms

Archiver Capacity Report showed tape has free ,097,544.01 GB, this is impossible to have freespace for so many GB. The database value only shows 8 digits including decimals.

When checking the dbcs_archivemedium table, the freeGB value is 23097544 GB.

Cause

The Archiver code incorrectly set remaining freespace.

Solution

Set the freespace of the tape to 0.

To update the database entries:

1. Go to a dos prompt, type <sqlplus prinergy/araxi>prinergy/araxi> to login to sql.

2. at sql prompt> Type <set linesize 2000>

3. Change the dos properties layout to width 2000, height 500, - this will set the width of the dos prompt to make it fit the query result.

4. Type <select * from dbcs_archivemedium;> - Tthis lists the archive mediumid, freegb, freegbremainder and archivename. Look for the archivemedmfreegb column and see whether there is any value like 23097544. Mark down the mediumname that is having this huge value.

5. Type <select * from dbcs_archivemedium where archivemedmname = 'the name of the medium that is having the problem with huge freespace'; to confirm that you have selected the right tape.

6. Type <update dbcs_archivemedium set archiveMedmFreeGb = 0, archiveMedmFreeGbRemainder =0 where archiveMedmName = 'the name of the medium that is having the problem with huge freespace;> - this will set the archiveMedmFreegb and archiveMedmFreeGbRemainder to zero.

7. Type <commit;> to commit the change in the database.

8. Repeat the above steps if more than one tape is having this problem.

9. Type <select * from dbcs_archivemedium;> - to confirm the freespace value change to zero.
