Solution |
IMPORTANT: If you want to use NT Backup to read an Archiver tape, do not put the tape into the Backup\Prinergy pool unless you no longer need the data on the tape. If you leave the tape in the Backup\Prinergy pool, the tape may be overwritten during the Prinergy backup procedure and the archived data will be permanently lost. Tip: You can create a new pool and call it Backup\ArchiverTapes. Then when you want to use NT Backup to read an Archiver tape, you can put the tape into this pool and it will not be overwritten. 1. Create a new media pools under Backup for archiver tapes. For e.g. in backup media group, create a media pool called "Archiver". 2. Move the archiver MTF tape from the archiver application pool to the newly created backup media pool. 3. Start NTbackup, click on the restore tab. 4. Double click the archiver tape to list the catelogy of the tape. This may take a while depending how much capacity on the tape. 5. Select the save-set or file that you want to restore in NTbackup and click "start restore". This will restore the file back to the orignial location of the save-set. 6. Once you restore the file, exit NTBackup. 7. Move the archiver tape out from the backup pool and back to the originial archiver media pool. Permanent fix: |
