Symptoms |
When you insert or eject any tape in the Faststor tape library, it performs a full inventory, that is, the tape library works to identify all the media in the library. This is very time consuming. |
Cause |
A. The tape library has been set in RSM to perform a full inventory. B. There is a mount failure that causes the RSM to perform a full inventory. C. The system does not have the latest version of the changer driver installed for the tape library that works on Windows 2000 Server. |

Solution |
Solution A: 1. In Computer Management, expand Removable Storage, then expand Phyical Locations. 2. Under Physical Locations, right-click ADIC Faststor DLT, and then select Properties. 3. Set the Inventory Method to Fast. Solution B: By default, the RSM will trigger a full inventory if it encounters any mount failures into the drive. This is the way the RSM works. Nothing is wrong. Solution C: To check the changer driver for the ADIC: 1. Locate the ADICfc.sys file in the \winnt\system32\drivers folder on the system drive. 2. Check for the following information: The date of the file = Mar 21, 2001 The filesize = 29Kb If you don't have the latest file, call the Creo Response Center. A representative will remotely install the latest changer driver for the system. Permanent fix: |
