Symptoms |
When submitting an archive or retrieve with a Prinergy system using a Sony Autoloader tape library, the mount request just sits in the work queue and RSM does not mount a tape to the drive. When trying to do an inventory for the tape library, all the identify media requests just sit in the queue, and the library does not function at all. Powering the device on and off, ejecting/injecting the tape cartridge, or rebooting the system does not help. |

||
Cause |
Something is wrong with the tape device that causes it to lose communication with RSM. PD could not duplicate the problem. | |

Solution |
1. In Computer Management, click Device Manager. 2. Click Medium changer in the right pane, and disable Sony 50Gb Autoloader (TSL -A500C). The tape library will show a red cross for the device in the left pane under Removable Storage|Physical Locations|Sony TSL-A500C. 3. Delete the Sony TSL-A500C in RSM. 4. Re-enable the tape library in Device Manager under Medium Changer. The library will now do an inventory by itself. Permanent fix: |
