Symptoms

Cannot unload the AIT tape in a Qualstar Tape Library.

Cause

Solution

1. Press the Menu button, then enter Operation.

2. Scroll down to Unload Drive, then press Enter.

3. Select the drive with the stuck tape, then press Enter.

4. If the tape is not ejected, open the door of the tape library, then press the hold eject button on the tape drive for 15 seconds.

5. If the tape is still not ejected, press and hold the eject button on the tape drive while cycling power to the library.

6. After the tape is ejected, if the tape is not damaged, clean the drive.

7. Run the sony utility - getnori to check the drive and send the result to Qualstar to determine whether it is something wrong with the drive.

8. If the tape is damaged, RMA to return the tape along with the tape drive.

9. If none of the above operations eject the tape, you must manually remove the drive and open it up to eject the tape.
