Symptoms |
When trying to insert a 3rd tape into a Qualstar tape library, the Media Inject Wizard reports: "The library is full, no more slots are available". However, there are 2 tapes in the tape library and 20 empty slots. |

Go to the Private Menu to calibrate the tape library. 1. To activiate the Private Menu: - Press MENU -> Maintenance, press Enter - Scroll to the bottom selection, Test LD Display, press Enter - Hold down the Down Arrow key, then press Enter, then press Menu (you must hold the first key down, then the second, then the last). This will successfully activate the Private Menu. 2. Enter Password to access the Private Menu. - In Private Menu- Access, press Enter to enter the password "Update" (use the up and down arrow keys to select each alphabet, then press Enter) - After you enter "Update", press Enter, then press Exit. 3. Do a calibration of the tape library. - remove all the tapes from the tape library. - Press Menu -> Private -> Calibration, then press Enter. 4. To deactiviate the Private Menu, in the Private Menu, select Clear Access, then press Enter. NOTE: Below is an example of a two-drive, 20-slot tape library configuration setting. 1. Press Menu -> Config -> Advanced -> Library A should be listed as enabled. Select this, press Enter, then check that the following is displayed: Drive First: T1 Drive Last: T2 Drives: 2 Fixed first: F1 Fixed last: F2 Fixed: 2 Slot first: 1A01 SlotLast 2A10 Slots 20 Permanent fix: |
