Error |
"could not allocate new medium, capacity is zero....". |
Symptoms |
When trying to archive to a blank new tape using Dell LTO drive, Archiver fails and reports error: "could not allocate new medium, capacity is zero....". |
Cause |
The Microsoft tape driver is reading the blank new tape capacity as 0. | |
Solution |
Install the HP LTO tape driver for the LTO drive. Once you update the Quantum tape driver, delete the tape and re-introduce it back into the system. NOTE: The tape must be deleted (simply dragging it to the free pool after changing the driver may not work). You can get the LTO driver at the See Also link. Permanent fix: |
