Solution |
When RSM is confused about the status of the drive or the location of the reserved slot for the cleaning tape, we can use the following workaround to clear the drive status or the cleaner management. 1. In Computer Management console, click on Device Manager, select medium changer. 2. Right click on the tape library to uninstall the tape library. 3. Delete the library under physical location in RSM. 4. Scan the system to pick back up the medium changer. 5. Update medium changer driver for the device. (Select QStar for Manufacturer) 6. All the tapes will show offline, click on inventory if it does not do an inventory automatically. 7. All tapes will update back to the original location and pools. NOTE: When installing a new library, it did not remove the existing RSM database, all the media pools and tapes status are still available. However, the cleaning management status about the cleaning tape and the status of the drive will rebuild. To register back the cleaning tape, click on cleaner management, add the cleaning tape again. Note: No need to stop and restart RSM or reboot the system. Permanent fix: |
