Symptoms |
When the Response Center dials into a customer's system and tries to install or remove patches, they often run PPU under the RCMD environment. The PYTHONUNBUFFERED environment variable is often set so that output from PPU can be seen on the screen during patch installation or removal. Answering "y" to PPU's questions seems to have the same effect as answering "n". |
Cause |
When the PYTHONUNBUFFERED environment variable is set, Python passes all keystrokes to the script, including the carriage return line feed that follows a "y" response. As a result, the script treats the response as an "n" because it is different from "y". | |

Solution |
Don't set the PYTHONUNBUFFERED environment variable when using PPU. Run PPU with PCAnywhere. Permanent fix: |
